Camila Jiménez Villa

Camila grew up between Bogotá and Sicily and graduated in Communication from IULM university in Milan.

While in Italy she worked as an assistant director in Cinecittá, as general organiser of the Milan International Film Festival and as a writer for Dispenser, a radio show broadcast nationally by Radio RAI. Camila also fenced for the Italian National Team during 3 years, competing internationally.

After her B.A. Camila joined the National Film and Television School in London where she specialised in Fiction Direction. During her time at the NFTS, she wrote and directed a 30 minutes fiction film, and worked as a cinematographer in several fiction and non-fiction projects.

After film school, Camila and two fellow NFTS graduates formed the production company Cut The Papaya. Through Cut the Papaya, Camila wrote and directed Olas, a short film that mixes documentary and fiction techinques to portray a day in the life of Chispy, a 10 year-old surfer who lives in one of the poorest slums of Cartagena de Indias, Colombia. Olas was supported by the Film London Agency and has been screened at several international film festivals.

At the moment, Camila combines her work as a cinematographer with her projects as a producer/director. She is currently developing “Beyond the night”, which has been awarded a development fund by Proimágenes Colombia, the Colombian Film Fund
