A not-too-clever firefighter called Bob and a feisty tomboy of a girl called Kika are blown to the other side of the world by a typhoon as they try to rescue Kika’s cat Tiger, who’s got stuck on a church steeple. Each episode takes place in a different country as they struggle to get back to save poor Tiger.
The journey isn’t made any easier by the fact that they don’t in fact know each other – after all Kika and Bob only met when Bob turned up with his fire-engine to save Tiger!
They have to come to terms with each other’s quirks and short-comings as they confront a series of amazing situations involving people and places they’ve only ever dreamt about. And as Kika soon finds out, it isn’t easy surviving in this world if all you will eat is macaroni with tomato ketchup…
Bob may not be too smart but he has the courage of a lion and is as dependable as a rock. And Kika may be bright and really tough but she’s still only nine years old and cannot help sometimes wishing she could just blink and be back in her own comfy bed again with Tiger curled up beside her.
“Kika and Bob” is a television-series that will require your full attention, because you don’t want to miss any of the jokes. The humorous tone is snappy, clever and will appeal to kids of all ages. Smaller children will love the funny characters and the physical and visual jokes. It's slapstick, cartoon-like and often just plain silly. Think Tex Avery meets Tom and Jerry, stuck together in a time-machine and warped to the present.
Older viewers will go for the situation comedy, the plot-development, the multi-layered characters and identify with all the insecurities and the range of emotions that Kika and Bob go through. The witty parody of, and references to, movies and television-shows from our collective memory are sure to appeal to older viewers. This is a cult series in the making.
MAIN CHARACTERS
Kika (voiced by Georgina Verbaan): a bright and resilient nine-year old girl who thinks she is worldly-wise, but is neither very mature nor very sophisticated (her idea of a good meal is macaroni covered in tomato ketchup).
Bob (voiced by Brian Blessed): not as young as he was, fireman Bob compensates for his lack of brain-cells with loads and loads of heart.
The Narrator (voiced by Tim McInnerny) is our travel guide. As Kika and Bob travel from country to country the all-knowing Narrator proves to be a walking encyclopaedia of Bizarre and Completely Unnecessary Trivia.
Tiger (voiced by Vincent Bal): Tiger is Kika's main playmate. Together they set off to see the whole world, in the privacy of Kika's room.
