Ten-year-old Hannes (NICK ROMEO REIMANN) lives with his single-parent Mom (NORA TSCHIRNER). His greatest dream is to become a member of the "The Crocodiles" – the coolest gang in the world. He has to accept a dare to become a Crocodile. The dare goes wrong, putting Hannes in serious danger. He's saved at the last minute thanks to Kai (FABIAN HALBIG), who's in a wheelchair. Kai desperately wants to be a Crocodile, too, but the other kids just make fun of him. For them Kai is a cripple who's no good in a pinch. He can't even run away. One night, however, Kai witnesses a burglary. Suddenly, the gang is interested in him after all. But Kai will only help them solve the crime and collect the reward if he gets to join the gang. With Kai's help and their typical Crocodile resourcefulness, courage and ingenuity, the Crocodiles set about cracking the case and taking on the dangerous gang of burglars...

First published in Germany in 1977, Max von der Grün's youth novel "Vorstadtkrokodile" (The Crocodiles) sold over 800 000 copies and influenced an entire generation of Greman kids. Now the Crocodiles come to the big screen, directed by Christian Ditter ("French for Beginners"). Working from a draft by Martin Ritzenhoff ("If It Don't Fit, Use a Bigger Hammer"), Christian Ditter also wrote the screenplay, updating the story while preserving the unique appeal of the original story.

The Crocodiles are embodied by a who's who of German child actors – headlined by Nick Romeo Reimann ("The Wild Soccer Bunch" Parts 3-5), Fabian Halbig (drummer for the hit teen band "Killerpilze," giving his acting debut), Leonie Tepe ("Taco und Kaninchen") and Manuel Steitz ("Herr Bello"). Together they take on a violent gang of bikers, played by Jacob Matschenz ("The Wave"), Axel Stein ("Killing is my Business, Honey") and Oktay Özdemir ("Leroy"). The grownups are acted by star Nora Tschirner (hit romcom "Rabbits Without Ears"), rapper Smudo and vet Maria Schrader ("Aimée and Jaguar"). Supporting roles include Martin Semmelrogge ("Das Boot") as a minigolf course owner and Ralf Richter (also "Das Boot") as police officer.

VORSTADTKROKODILE was produced by Westside Filmproduktion and Rat Pack Filmproduktion, in co-production with Constantin Film Produktion. The creative team has already worked together on hits like "Bang Boom Bang", "If It Don't Fit, Use a Bigger Hammer", "Hui Buh, the Goofy Ghost", "French for Beginners " and "The Wave". With "The Crocodiles", they again manage to deliver exciting, appealing and engaging entertainment for the whole family.
